Was 21 year old UNC Student Body president mixed up in a sorted love triangle with her killers that reuslted in the end of her life.
Earlier Friday, Chapel Hill police Chief Brian Curran had backed off calling Carson’s death random — instead saying investigators simply didn’t have evidence to the contrary. “To make an assessment on that at this time would be speculative,” he said. “At this point, we have no evidence to believe that it was a targeted crime.”
Carson’s next-door neighbor, UNC-Chapel Hill sophomore Anna Pullian, said she doubted the crime was random.
“Everyone knew who she was,” Pullian said. “Practically everyone on campus would know her face. It seems to be too much of a coincidence for it to be random.”
Statistics suggest that Carson’s death probably was not random.
About two-thirds of female homicide victims are killed by people they know, about a quarter are killed by people of unknown relationship, and less than 10 percent are killed by confirmed strangers, according to U.S. Department of Justice statistics.
About one-third are killed by intimate partners.
Eve Carson was discovered lying in the intersection of Hillcrest Road and Hillcrest Circle after the Chapel Hill Police Department responded at about 5 a.m. to reports of gunshots in the exclusive residential area off East Franklin Street near the University of North Carolina campus.
But, where was she coming from? Where had she been? Who was she with?
The first call concerning her death came from a neighbor on Davie Circle, who lived a street behind where the body was found.
The caller reported that she heard three or four shots and a woman scream, police spokesman Lt. Kevin Gunter said. Police received two other 911 calls immediately after the first, but no witnesses to the actual shooting have been found.
Lester Day, age 76, found the body. She had been shot twice and her upper torso burned. Police believe she was killed in a different location and her body was dumped where Mr. Day found it. She appeared to have been dead for several hours.
According to reports, she was wearing a navy blue shirt with a red circle and white symbol in the center, and gray sweatpants. Her shoes were Converse Starbury tennis shoes, which apparently are fairly uncommon in that area. This article is filled with malapropisms, misspellings and erroneous facts.
It’s “sordid” not sorted. Eve Carson was killed in Chapel Hill, not Jackson, and her body was not burned beyond recognition. It was not burned at all. The police said there were no signs of a struggle - only that she’d been shot several times, including once in the head. She was not the 14th homicide victim in Jackson this year, she was the second homicide victim in Chapel Hill this year.
There is not a chance on Earth Eve Carson would have had any romantic or other kind of social involvement with the people who committed this cold and senseless, senseless crime.
The irony is that she spent so much of her life trying to help people like her killers - people who weren’t accomplished, educated or raised in loving families.
One could wish the death penalty or life in prison for her killers, but it barely matters at this point. The justice system can’t erase the brutality that ended Eve’s life and it won’t rehabilitate a mindset that believes in doing evil things to innocent people.
Maybe we should all think about how Eve really lived her life. She turned down scholarships to fancy private universities like Yale and Princeton in favor of a public university, and was about to give up an offer of a six-figure salary at a New York consulting firm. She wanted to do volunteer work in Africa instead. Eventually she wanted to be a doctor and help create a health care system that would make medical care a right, not a privilege.
Now think about how she spent her last moments on this Earth.

The suggestion that ’sordid’ was intended to be used, could suggest some bigoted prejudice about the kind of people Demario and Lawrence are. Else: what would be dirty or filthy about her being in a relationship with them?

I see you have substituted the word ‘Privileged’ with ‘Accomplished’. Privileged is a key word for whites whose families significantly benifitted from the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. Accomplished suggests that, outside of the standard skin color advantages racism provides, Eve’s family worked their way to the things they have. Any thoughts?

I would say that the Eve Carson murder will probably result in 400-500 unjustified convictions of black people in this country, because of increased cynicism of jurors. Way to shoot yourselves in the foot, Sambo.
